Good staging sells a story—bad staging can stop buyers in their tracks. I’m Dennis Loewen with North and Main Homes, and today we’re covering the biggest home-staging mistakes I see San Jose sellers make (and how to avoid them).
Mistake 1: Over-Personalizing
You love your décor—but buyers need to imagine themselves there. Remove family photos, niche artwork, and bold colors. Keep design neutral and inviting.
Mistake 2: Wrong-Sized Furniture
Oversized furniture makes rooms feel small, and tiny pieces make them look empty. Scale matters more than style.
Mistake 3: Poor Lighting
Dark spaces shrink visually. Replace bulbs with bright daylight tones and open blinds for natural light.
Mistake 4: Skipping Pro Photos
Even perfectly staged homes won’t shine without great photography. Your first showing is online, not in person.
